A family visit yesterday to celebrate eldest nephew’s birthday. At 14 years old he is already as tall as me (five foot 8 inches).
This lilac tree was in the garden when my sister and her husband moved to the house over 16 years ago. Like our nephew, it has grown quite considerably.
I love lilacs too. Mine didn’t bloom well this year so I really appreciate this shot.

I love watching the growth of a plant or tree in connection with the growth of chidren. I like to give trees as gifts when people have babies so they can watch the tree grow as their child grows. This is a lovely photograph.
